Brandon A. Anderson
35mm film photograph captured on Portra 800.
Portrait of Brandon A. Anderson, previous owner of 9th and 9th Book and Music Gallery which was permanently closed in September 2024. This hole in the wall business hosted free concerts, art classes, poetry nights, and was home to locally sourced and pre-loved books, records, and instruments before closing down. I walked into this shop with my camera around my neck and was immediately greeted by Brandon telling me to photograph to my heart's content. In an article by The Salt Lake Tribune, Anderson said his goal was to create a "safe space" for artists and anyone who walked through the doors. This sentiment was deeply felt by me, and the Salt Lake community.
Artist Statement
I am a student artist exploring the world through photography, driven by a lifelong passion for creativity. Since childhood, I have found joy in making art in all forms, and photography has become my way of capturing moments that intrigue and inspire me. Whether through the lens or other artistic mediums, I am always seeking new ways to express and challenge myself. More than anything, my goal is to live a life of creative fulfillment—where curiosity, imagination, and artistry guide my way.
