Viennese Secession 2-Sided Folding Poster

This two-sided digital print is based on patterns of the Viennese Secession. The Vienna Secession was the Viennese version of or response to the French art nouveau and German Jugendstil. I’ve been to Vienna several times, and have fallen in love with Secessionist art, especially its surface design and typography.
The front of the print is essentially a poster celebrating the design of the Vienna Secession. The back includes information about the Secession, including its influences and origin, aesthetics, and works. My favorite part of the design is that it neatly folds up into a little enclosed note. When folded, the design flows nicely on the back, and the front features the words “Vienna Secession.”
I feel I successfully imbued this print with the aesthetics of the Secession, while also making a fun, tactile design.

Artist Statement
I’m Bess Hayes, a designer, artist, and writer in Salt Lake City. I have a BA in German literature, an MFA in creative writing, and have now turned my hand to graphic design. For fun, I read, sew, hike, hang out with my dog Frida, and travel when I get the chance.
